Mark your calendars for September 18, 2025, from 9 AM to mid-afternoon.

Come join the students from DMACC, Kirkwood Community College, and Iowa State University’s Horticulture programs as we roll up our sleeves to make a difference at our annual Day of Service!

In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, we will plant woody and herbaceous plants, mulch, water, and put up protective fencing around The Carter Court Commons is located at 4401 E 46th Street in Des Moines, just west of Delaware Elementary School.

With shovels, plants, and plenty of teamwork, this hands-on project will help beautify this vibrant landscape for the neighborhood to enjoy for years to come.

HISTORY:

The Day of Service locations are selected by the INLA Day of Service Planning Committee and have varied from the Kirkwood campus in Cedar Rapids, to the Iowa State University campus in Ames, to a site on Iowa government ground surrounding the State Capitol. This member effort has benefited nearly a dozen locations across Iowa since its inception in 2012.
