The Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association (INLA) will help mark the Iowa Arboretum’s 50th anniversary with our annual Day of Service on September 11, 2018, in Madrid. This annual day of service brings together INLA professionals and horticulture students from area community colleges and universities for a day benefiting Iowa organizations and communities. Students from Iowa State University, Kirkwood Community College, and Des Moines Area Community College will be participating this year. The students and member companies of INLA will install new landscape plants and a splash fountain around the Hughes Education Center, and install paver and flagstone walkways at the Kroeze Teahouse at the Iowa Arboretum.
“INLA members played an important role in starting the Iowa Arboretum back in 1968. It is only fitting that we return to the Iowa Arboretum to recognize this historic achievement,” said John Hughes, INLA president.
INLA encourages Iowa nursery and landscape professionals and students to volunteer and give back to Iowa communities! All volunteers will receive lunch, a t-shirt, and plenty of cold drinks during the day. Volunteers interested in helping out during the 2018 Day of Service can contact Joan O’Brien at [email protected] or by calling 515.262.8323.
