2015 IOWA NURSERY & LANDSCAPE ASSOCIATION’S DAY OF SERVICE WAS ANOTHER SUCCESS!

Cedar Rapids, IA – The 2015 Iowa Nursery & Landscape Association Day of Service was held on September 11 at Linn Hall on the Kirkwood Campus in Cedar Rapids, IA. Annually INLA holds a Day of Service at a location in Iowa to remember the events of 9/11/2001 and to ask its members and citizens of Iowa to volunteer to give back in the community. Around 29 volunteers participated in the 2015 Day of Service, students from Kirkwood and Iowa State University (ISU) participated along with the INLA board of directors.

Volunteers began working on the Linn Hall site at 9 a.m. Lunch was provided on site by the INLA planning committee and work continued to around 3 p.m. The volunteers were given a chance to tour the campus greenhouse, the horticulture building, along with the winery and vineyard.

The Day of Service locations are selected by the INLA Day of Service Planning Committee and have varied from the ISU campus in Ames, IA to a site on Iowa government ground surrounding the State Capitol. The Kirkwood Campus was the fourth location in Iowa to be selected.

The INLA board of directors and the 2015 planning committee would like to extend a tremendous thank you to all of our volunteers and students that made our 2015 INLA Day of Service such a success! Along with a very special thank you to Mike Martin and the grounds crew at Kirkwood for their willingness to aid with equipment, plant material, resources and general enthusiasm for the project.

Founded in 1921, the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association strives to promote the horticulture industry through its membership of growers, landscapers, brokers, and retail garden centers.

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS!
